Colts love Cowboys: Linebacker cried as a kid because he wanted Dallas star on his helmet

Having eight players on its roster who were born in Texas, the Indianapolis Colts will dress a few players on Sunday who had a childhood devotion to the Cowboys.

Colts running back Joseph Addai and linebacker Cody Glenn were a couple of those players that talked to the Indianapolis Star about who they rooted for as a youth.

“I was a big Cowboys fan,” Addai said. “When I was young, it was Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin , Emmitt Smith, so I was a big fan.”

Glenn’s devotion went deeper than that.

“I loved those guys, and Charles Haley, Ken Norton , Daryl Johnston,” he said. “That’s why I played football, because of those guys.”

Trying to look like those Cowboys players even forced Glenn to tears.

“I cried to get on a Cowboys little league team rather than a San Francisco little league team,” Glenn said. “I wanted that star on the side of the helmet.”

And the tears worked.

“It was an uncle who was kind of running the thing, so I got my way,” he said with a laugh. “I was a little skinny kid back then, I wasn’t going to affect anything, so it didn’t really matter.”
